About
Remembering our past and looking to our future…
We chose the name Minnesota Minx to honor those who have come before us.
In 1999 the era of modern women’s football was started with the Barnstorming Tour. The tour consisted of the Minnesota Vixen and the Lake Michigan Minx. Out of that tour, a league was born and the Vixen still continue to play to this day. While the legacy of the Lake Michigan Minx continues, the team has long since faded away. In the spirit of that 1999 season, our new team is inclusive and provides more women and non-binary individuals the opportunity to play the ultimate team sport of football. Embracing Minx as our namesake allows us to pay homage to our history while being guided to the future of the sport.
Mission
The Minnesota Minx are determined to empower womxn*, build community, and grow the game of football.
Vision
We envision ourselves as a womxn’s tackle football team aimed at breaking down barriers for all womxn.
Values
Our values define our team's identity and actions. We're dedicated to upholding them as the foundation for our success, both on the field and as a positive force in the community.
INCLUSIVITY
We highly value and recognize the diversity of our team as our strength. We extend a warm welcome to players and coaches from all backgrounds, cultures, and abilities. Our steadfast commitment lies in creating an environment where every individual feels genuinely valued, respected, and fully supported. Inclusivity forms the core of our team's ethos.
ACCESSIBILITY
We are committed to making football accessible to all womxn athletes by removing barriers through physical fitness training, fundraising, community engagement, and personal growth opportunities. The Minx prioritizes maintaining financial and geographic accessibility.
COMMUNITY
Our team's impact extends beyond the field. We're dedicated to giving back to our supportive communities through philanthropy, volunteering, and community events, leveraging the unifying power of sports for positive change.
EMPOWERMENT
Through football, we empower womxn to discover their self-confidence, leadership skills, natural aggressiveness, inner strength, and overall potential. We challenge societal pressures that womxn refrain from being strong and assertive in nature; instead, we promote leadership, personal growth, and a supportive team culture which embraces womxn in all forms. Our goal is to be role models for young womxn and athletes of self-empowerment and resilience on and off the field.
